jennifer Byrne, mph, CAP, LMT
Jennifer Byrne is a nutritionist, herbalist, licensed massage therapist and a NAMA-Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (CAP).
Jennifer received her Master's degree in public health from Emory University, which led her to Africa and South America- where she spent 10 years designing and overseeing health programs for the CDC and other institutions- before returning to her hometown of Charleston to tackle nutrition and childhood obesity in the public school system for another 4 years.
A dedicated yogi since a formative trip to Rishikesh in 2008, Jennifer’s passion for yoga's spiritual path and her interest in plant-based nutrition and its connection with traditional healing modalities drew her quite naturally to the ancient healing wisdom of Ayurveda. In addition to her Master's degree, her formal education includes certification in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University, completion of the Gaiananda Herbal Apprenticeship under herbalist Patricia Harpell, completion of the Asheville School of Massage and Yoga’s 600-hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program, completion of Kerala Ayurveda Academy's 1000-hour Ayurvedic Practitioner program and Trident Technical College’s 500-hour Massage Therapy program. Some of her teachers include Vishnu Dass, Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Jayarajan Kodikannath, Dr. Sheena Sooraj, Alka Mulakaluri, Patricia Harpell, Bri. Silvia Viryananda Eberl and her beloved spiritual teacher, Swami Chandrasekharanand Saraswati.
As a Nutritionist and Ayurvedic Practitioner, Jennifer provides diet, lifestyle and herbal support grounded in the ancient Indian wisdom of Ayurveda and Western herbal traditions. She is not a medical doctor or Ayurvedic Doctor, but provides services that are complementary to these professions.
